Job Description:
ProCare Therapy is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time 1:1 position in Amherst, NH, for the upcoming school year (2023/2024). The LPN will provide comprehensive medical support and care to a middle school-aged student with specific needs. This position involves working closely with the student throughout the school day, including bus travel. The student has specific medical requirements, including being wheelchair bound, experiencing seizures, utilizing a G-tube, and requiring assistance with changing/toileting. Additionally, the student requires multiple transfers between equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct medical care and support to the student, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the school day.
- Assist with bus riding duties, ensuring the student's safe transportation to and from school.
- Administer medications, including seizure management, as prescribed and following proper protocols.
- Monitor and manage the student's G-tube feeding, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
- Assist with changing and toileting needs, maintaining hygiene and comfort.
- Perform multiple transfers between equipment, following proper techniques and protocols to ensure the student's safety.
- Collaborate with the school staff, including teachers and other healthcare professionals, to provide consistent and effective care.
- Document and maintain accurate medical records, including observations, interventions, and any changes in the student's condition.
Requirements:
- Valid LPN license in the state of New Hampshire or eligible for licensure.
- Previous experience working with students with special medical needs is preferred.
- Knowledge and familiarity with managing seizures, G-tube feeding, and wheelchair-bound individuals.
- Ability to assist with changing, toileting, and perform multiple transfers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the student, school staff, and parents.
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the student and respond promptly in emergency situations.
- Compassion, patience, and a nurturing attitude towards the student.
