Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following local and state requirements:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Licensure: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas.
  • Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or community health setting preferred.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and any additional screenings required by the school district.
  • Skills: Strong clinical and assessment skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a school environment.

    Key Responsibilities:
    The Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in managing and providing healthcare services to students and staff. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct nursing care to students, including first aid, medication administration, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Conducting health assessments and screenings for students, such as vision, hearing, and immunization compliance.
  • Developing and implementing individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with special medical needs.
  • Responding to medical emergencies and coordinating care with local health providers as needed.
  • Educating students, staff, and families on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborating with school administrators, counselors, teachers, and parents to support students' overall health and well-being.
