Your Role as a School Nurse

As a school nurse, you are more than a caregiver—you are a vital part of the student support system. You’ll oversee day-to-day health needs, manage long-term care plans, and help build a school culture focused on safety, wellness, and inclusion.

In this position, you will:

  • Deliver first aid and health assessments for students and staff

  • Support students with chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, allergies, etc.)

  • Maintain and update medical records in compliance with Missouri school health regulations

  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families on IHPs, 504 Plans, and IEP health needs

  • Provide education around hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care

  • Respond to emergency situations and help shape school-wide safety plans

    Candidate Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Missouri RN license

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

  • Effective communication and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with education professionals

  • A patient, compassionate approach to working with children and teens

    Preferred:

  • BSN or higher degree

  • Previous experience in pediatric, school, or community health settings

  • Familiarity with IEP/504 processes and student accommodations

  • Multilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus
