Title: School Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Freeport, New York

Description:

Our school district in Freeport is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, a commitment to student well-being, and a desire to make a positive impact on the school community.

Responsibilities:

• Provide healthcare services to students and staff in accordance with state regulations and school policies
• Administer medications, treatments, and first aid as needed, maintaining accurate records
• Assess and manage students with chronic health conditions, including asthma, allergies, and diabetes
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs)
• Conduct health screenings and maintain health records for students
• Participate in health education programs for students and staff
• Maintain a safe and hygienic healthcare environment, including proper storage and disposal of medical supplies
• Participate in professional development and training to stay current with healthcare practices in school settings

Qualifications:

• Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience in pediatric or school nursing is preferred but not required
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy and a passion for working with children and adolescents
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all healthcare matters
