Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff members as needed
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policies
  • Assess and evaluate students' health needs, and develop and implement individualized health care plans as necessary
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to promote a healthy and safe school environment
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments, and maintain accurate health records for students
  • Provide health education and counseling to students, families, and staff on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and chronic disease management
  • Participate in the development and implementation of school health policies and procedures
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care and support until emergency medical services arrive
  • Maintain confidentiality of student health information and comply with all relevant laws and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Previous experience working as a school nurse or in pediatric nursing preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to promoting the health and well-being of students and staff
