RN MS Oncology - Plattsburgh, NY

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Med Surg Oncology Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in Plattsburgh, NY, for a 13-week contract position. As an Oncology RN, you will provide specialized care to patients in our medical-surgical oncology unit, ensuring their comfort, safety, and emotional support throughout their cancer journey. This position involves working day shifts for 12 hours each. This contract opportunity is available on R5, with 48-hour contracts.

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years of recent, related experience as a Med Surg Oncology RN
• Valid registered nurse license in the state of New York
• Ability to provide comprehensive care to patients with various oncological diagnoses
• Strong understanding of cancer treatments, symptom management, and pain control
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients and their families during challenging times

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans
• Administer medications, chemotherapy, and other treatments as prescribed, closely monitoring patients' responses
• Provide education and support to patients and their families, addressing concerns and promoting self-care practices
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic care delivery
• Monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs, lab results, and overall well-being, promptly reporting any changes or concerns
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and participate in quality improvement initiatives
