A School Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position has opened in our school district. We are currently sourcing for candidates who are interested in the following setting for the 2024-2025 school year. You will play a pivotal role in promoting the health and wellness of our students and staff while ensuring a positive and healthy school environment.

Job Description:
The 1:1 school nurse will provide individualized care to a student with specific medical needs. This role involves ensuring the student's health and safety during the school day and while riding the school bus. The nurse will collaborate with the student's family, school staff, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to the assigned student, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing necessary medical procedures.
  • Develop and implement a personalized health care plan in coordination with the student's healthcare providers.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
  • Accompany the student on the school bus to and from school, ensuring their safety and addressing any medical needs during transit.
  • Coordinate with bus drivers and transportation staff to ensure a safe and supportive school environment for the student.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care and support for student's health needs.
  • Participate in meetings with school staff and the student's family to discuss and review the student's health plan.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of the student's health status, treatments, and any incidents or concerns.
  • Educate students and staff on health-related topics and promote wellness initiatives within the school community.

Job Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
  • Must have valid California LPN license.
  • Must be CPR and BLS certified.
  • Previous experience in pediatrics or schools preferred.
  • Strong clinical nursing skills with the ability to respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
