Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – School Nurse Position – Compton, CA (2024-2025 School Year)

Position Overview

    Key Responsibilities

    As the school nurse, you will be responsible for supporting the health room and ensuring students receive the medical attention they need throughout the school day. Specific duties include:

  • Providing direct care to students with health needs such as seizure monitoring, trach/vent care, G-tube feeding, and personal hygiene assistance.
  • Writing and maintaining individualized care plans for students with chronic health conditions or medical needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers, staff, and families to ensure the coordination of care and support for students with medical challenges.
  • Assisting in evaluating students for Special Services (Special Education) as part of their health and wellness assessments.
  • Creating a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive despite their health challenges.

    Requirements:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification in California.
  • Previous experience as an LVN or in a medical setting, with 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage a variety of healthcare needs for students, including providing personal care, medication administration, and monitoring chronic conditions.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Passion for working with children and ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
