Job Title: School Registered Nurse - Specialized Care

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our school health team and provide specialized care for a student with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, be knowledgeable in caring for conditions such as G-tube, tracheotomy, dysphagia, VP shunt, hearing loss, and right side vision loss, and have excellent collaboration skills to work closely with school staff.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide skilled nursing care to a student with specific medical diagnoses, including G-tube, tracheotomy, dysphagia, VP shunt, hearing loss, and right side vision loss.
  2. Perform suctioning, gastrostomy flushing and maintenance, and administer G-tube feedings according to the student's care plan.
  3. Monitor the overall wellness of the student and respond promptly to any health-related concerns.
  4. Collaborate effectively with school staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators, to ensure coordinated care and support for the student.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including care plans and documentation of nursing interventions.
  6. Communicate regularly with the student's healthcare team, parents/guardians, and other relevant stakeholders.
  7. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities related to the student's care needs.
  8. Foster a positive and supportive environment for the student, promoting health and safety within the school setting.

Qualifications:

  1. Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of IL.
  2. Previous experience in pediatric or school nursing, especially with students requiring specialized care.
  3. Knowledge and proficiency in caring for individuals with G-tube, tracheotomy, dysphagia, VP shunt, hearing loss, and vision loss.
  4. Ability to perform suctioning, gastrostomy flushing and maintenance, and administer G-tube feedings.
  5. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with school staff and healthcare professionals.
  6. Compassionate and patient demeanor with a commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the student.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM (Wednesday ends at 2:45 PM)
