Your Role as a School Nurse

As the on-site healthcare professional, you will manage student health concerns, support chronic condition care, and promote a culture of safety and wellness throughout the school. You’ll work closely with staff, students, and families to support academic success through health.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide immediate care for injuries and acute illness

Monitor and support students with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies

Maintain and update student health records in accordance with Florida Department of Health guidelines

Develop and help implement Individual Health Plans (IHPs) and participate in 504/IEP processes

Lead health education initiatives and preventive care efforts

Participate in emergency planning and preparedness on campus

What You’ll Need

Required:

Active Florida RN license

Valid CPR/First Aid certification

Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently

Excellent communication skills and a student-centered mindset

Preferred:

BSN or higher nursing degree

Prior experience in pediatrics, public health, or school settings

Familiarity with IEP/504 accommodations and school health regulations

Spanish-speaking or bilingual is a plus
