Step into an impactful role supporting students’ well-being in both a high school and elementary school setting for a 12-week maternity leave coverage. A dedicated Certified School Nurse with a Professional Educator License (PEL) is sought for a full-time contract assignment starting December 14, 2026 and concluding March 15, 2027, with the potential for extension. The position is based near Naperville, IL and will require presence in two school buildings: High School hours (7:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Wednesday) and Elementary School hours (8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Thursday and Friday). Adherence to each school’s established daily schedule is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois PEL with Certified School Nurse endorsement (required)
  • Prior experience as an RN in school settings strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise working with student populations of varying ages
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with interdisciplinary teams and families
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across two different buildings each week
  • Submission of PEL certification/license and a current resume is mandatory for consideration
  • Candidates must strictly hold the Certified School Nurse credential; RN and LPN-only applicants will not be considered
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide responsive, compassionate nursing care to students in health office settings
  • Perform health assessments, interventions, and documentation according to school protocol
  • Collaborate in IEP meetings, particularly for students with special needs
  • Serve as a liaison between families, community providers, and school staff to advocate for student health
  • Maintain meticulous health records and ensure compliance with state and district policies
