School-Based Registered Nurse (1:1 Support)

Soliant is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing support for a student in the Saco, ME school area. This is a year-round position supporting a student with complex medical needs in a school setting. 

Assignment Details:

Duration: Year-round
Start Date: July, 2026
Schedule: Full-time, On-Site School-Based

  • Standard Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Summer Schedule: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM, with early release on Fridays at 1:30 PM
  • School Year Schedule: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM, with early release on Wednesdays
  • Setting: In-Person Only 

    Transportation
    Preferred: Nurse rides the school bus to and from school with the student.
    Alternative: Candidates who are local to the area and are unable to ride the bus are encouraged to apply. The district will consider applicants who can provide nursing services during school hours only.

    Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day.
  • Monitor and manage the student's medical condition, including frequent seizure activity.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policies.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and implement seizure protocols as needed.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting and physical transfers/lifting.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and health records.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, transportation staff, administrators, and family members to support the student's overall well-being.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, state nursing regulations, and school health policies.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
  • Preferred Experience: 

  • Previous experience providing nursing services in a school, pediatric, or community-based setting.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex medical needs and seizure disorders.
  • Experience working with non-verbal individuals and students with developmental or physical disabilities.
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), and emergency care plans.
  • Experience providing one-to-one nursing support.
  • Pediatric nursing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine or eligibility for Maine licensure.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to safely perform physical transfers and assist with mobility needs.
  • Experience recognizing and responding to seizure activity and other medical emergencies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary educational team.
