Location: Sterling, Colorado
Position: School-Based Registered Nurse (RN)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 30–60 days, with potential to extend longer
Hours: 16–32 hours per week, based on weekly district needs
Caseload: K–12th Grade
Students Served: Approximately 25–30 students currently, with district-wide responsibilities across multiple school buildings and programs

Position Overview

We are seeking a School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) to support students throughout a school district in Sterling, CO. This is a district-wide nursing position serving multiple school buildings and programs. Rather than a traditional direct-service caseload, daily responsibilities will vary based on student and district needs.

The RN will provide routine student health services, support students with Individual Health Plans, manage medication needs, coordinate care for students with chronic health conditions, and provide specialized health support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee medication administration and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate care for students with chronic or complex medical needs, including diabetes, seizures, severe allergies, asthma, and other health conditions.
  • Train and delegate appropriate health-related tasks to school personnel in accordance with Colorado requirements.
  • Support students with health-related needs connected to IEPs and Section 504 plans and participate in meetings when appropriate.
  • Assist with immunization compliance and other state-required school health reporting.
  • Provide staff training and guidance regarding emergency medications, health protocols, and student-specific medical needs.
  • Respond to student injuries, illnesses, and other health-related concerns throughout the school day.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, medical providers, administrators, and school staff as appropriate.
  • Promote a safe and healthy school environment for students and staff.

    • Qualifications

  • Current Colorado RN license.
  • School nursing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting students with chronic or complex medical needs is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple school sites and programs.
