1:1 School Nurse (RN/LPN) – Preschool Student

Location: New Jersey

Assignment Dates: September 1, 2025 – June 19, 2026

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:15 PM (includes bus transportation)

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled 1:1 School Nurse (RN or LPN) to support a preschool student with complex medical needs. This role involves providing individualized care throughout the school day and during transportation, ensuring the student’s safety, comfort, and access to education.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing support to a preschool-aged student

Travel with the student daily:

Arrive at the student’s home in the morning

Ride the bus to school

Provide care throughout the school day

Ride the bus home with the student

Administer medications according to scheduled times

Monitor and manage medical conditions, including:

G-tube care and feeding support

Tracheal-related concerns

Anticoagulant management

Respond to medical emergencies, including seizures and bleeding

Assist the student with mobility, including walking and navigating stairs

Collaborate with teachers, school nurse, and family to ensure continuity of care

Support the student within a self-contained classroom setting

Additional Details

The nurse will have the ability to take breaks; the student may be brought to the nurse’s office while the nurse steps away

A scheduled orientation day will be provided prior to the start date, including an opportunity to meet the student’s parent/guardian, teacher, and school nurse

Qualifications

Active New Jersey RN or LPN license (required)

Experience with pediatric or school-based nursing preferred

Knowledge and hands-on experience with:

G-tube care

Seizure management

Emergency response protocols

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to provide compassionate, attentive care in a school setting

Preferred (Not Required)

Bilingual skills

Compensation for this position ranges from $27.70 to $57.70. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
