Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent professional training
  • Demonstrated experience in a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) or similar surgical setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sterile field practices and surgical instrumentation
  • Ability to anticipate surgical team needs, particularly for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures
  • Strong communication skills and attention to patient safety
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently under pressure
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for all CVOR procedures
  • Assist surgeons and staff during operations, ensuring all surgical instruments are properly handled and available
  • Monitor and account for surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies throughout procedures
  • Support pre-operative and post-operative room turnover and setup
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and hospital policies at all times
  • Communicate clearly with surgical team members to facilitate seamless operations
