Take on a vital role supporting complex surgical procedures as a CVOR Tech specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. Working within a dynamic environment, you’ll collaborate closely with surgeons and the operating room (OR) team while delivering excellent patient care and maintaining top safety standards.

Schedule:

  • Day rotation, Monday through Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Shifts typically start between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.; 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts available
  • Call requirements: Up to 3 on-call shifts per week (8–16 hours each)
  • One working weekend and call shift every 4 weeks
  • Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Demonstrated CVOR and cardiothoracic experience, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest procedures
  • Deep knowledge of sterile technique, asepsis, and infection control in an OR setting
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aseptic and sterile technique throughout preoperative and intraoperative phases
  • Scrub in and assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, draping, instrument handling, and anticipating surgical needs
  • Keep an organized, safe operative field, including accurate counts of all surgical items
  • Prepare OR suites according to case preference cards, properly handling instruments and supplies
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying potential equipment, chemical, or environmental hazards
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively as a team member, sharing knowledge with new OR staff
  • Assist with suturing, retracting, suctioning, and specimen handling under direct supervision of the surgeon
  • Contribute to efficient turnover between cases and fulfill rotating call duties as scheduled
