Make a direct impact by providing one-on-one care for a 12th-grade student in a supportive educational setting. This full-time contract opportunity places you in a dynamic school environment on a dedicated schedule from 7:40 am to 3:10 pm, aligning with staff hours. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), your role is essential in enabling a student with complex medical needs to safely access his education and thrive in his daily school life.

The student requires attentive care, including tracheostomy and GI tube management, while using a wheelchair. Diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, spastic quad cerebral palsy, chronic pulmonary conditions, and more. Your expertise and compassionate presence will foster an inclusive, safe atmosphere for learning and social engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted LPN or LVN license
  • Experience with pediatric tracheostomy and GJ tube care
  • Competency managing chronic, complex medical conditions (neurological, respiratory, GI)
  • Capacity to provide personal care and safe transfers for wheelchair users
  • Understanding of seizure protocols and emergency response
  • Ability to communicate effectively with school staff, student, and family
  • Patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting student independence
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Monitor and document vital signs and symptoms throughout the school day
  • Administer medications, treatments, and feeds according to medical orders
  • Manage trach, GJ tube, and respiratory care needs
  • Collaborate with educators and related support staff
  • Participate in emergency response as needed
