Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Johnson City, NY
Step into a fulfilling school nursing role providing dedicated care and support to a male 9th-grade student for the 2026-2027 academic year. As an integral member of the educational team, you’ll make a meaningful difference each day by delivering specialized care in a positive and inclusive school environment.
This contract position is tailored for either an LPN or RN with a genuine passion for student-centered nursing. You will work 32.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, from 7:15 am to 2:00 pm, alongside your student for the full academic year (September 2026 through June 2027). The focus of your assignment will be one-on-one support for a student with trach and mobility needs, including wheelchair use.
Qualifications & Skills
• Active NY LPN or RN license
• Current fingerprint clearance for school settings
• Compassion and patience for working with high school students with complex medical needs
• Experience with tracheostomy care strongly preferred
• Background in mobility assistance or wheelchair-bound care
• Professionalism, discretion, and reliability
• Positive communication and collaboration with school staff and families
Key Responsibilities
• Direct one-on-one health support for a 9th-grade male student during school hours
• Trach care, mobility and wheelchair support, and daily health monitoring
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as needed
• Participate in care planning with educational and healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate, confidential healthcare documentation
• Respond promptly and effectively to any student health issues or emergencies
