Make a meaningful difference in the life of a student by providing dedicated nursing support in a vibrant educational setting. This contract opportunity is suited for a compassionate and attentive RN or LPN who will serve as a one-to-one healthcare provider for a non-verbal student with autism, diabetes, and respiratory concerns. You will work closely with school staff and contribute to the student’s well-being while maintaining a consistent daytime schedule from 8:45 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license; RN strongly preferred
  • Previous experience supporting children or individuals with complex medical needs, especially autism and diabetes, is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in using glucose monitoring devices (Dexcom preferred)
  • Familiarity with respiratory care and diabetes management protocols
  • Ability to follow detailed care plans and respond swiftly to changing health needs
  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Closely monitor the student’s blood glucose through Dexcom and administer care per physician and school instructions
  • Assist with respiratory care and remain alert to any changes in the student’s health status
  • Feed the student pureed foods, ensuring safe and appropriate nutrition support
  • Coordinate day-to-day care with the building nurse and other educators involved in the student’s academic experience
  • Maintain thorough documentation of care provided and communicate promptly with necessary parties
  • Remain assigned solely to this student throughout the duration of each school day with no bus duty
