This dynamic nursing opportunity is based within a large, bustling healthcare facility recognized as a Level 1 trauma center, teaching hospital, chest pain center, and stroke center. The Med/Surg and Telemetry units offer exposure to a broad patient population, including those with acute and chronic diseases, co-morbidities, post-surgical needs, and cardiac conditions such as CHF and atrial fibrillation. Nurses will be supported by a robust interdisciplinary team, with resources including CNAs, discharge nurses, a PICC team, phlebotomy support, and access to 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, and respiratory therapy coverage.

Schedule/Hours

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • No call required
  • Holiday rotations as outlined
  • Opportunity to float to all Med/Tele units as needed
  • Qualifications

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (must pass EKG competency during onboarding)
  • Strong clinical skills including: trach care, chest tube management, IV starts and maintenance, glucommander, patient assessment, interdisciplinary coordination, and discharge planning
  • Proficient in tele skills: cardiac rhythm monitoring, post-cath care, TR band and groin site management (excluding sheath pulls)
  • Experience with cardiac and insulin drips (heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine)
  • Excellent time management and patient education abilities
  • Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care for a diverse adult inpatient population
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Perform and monitor specialized skills such as drip titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and post-surgical care
  • Oversee care coordination, discharge planning, and patient/family education
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR and operate standard unit technology (Alaris pumps, Philips monitors, Pyxis)
