Step into an impactful nursing role in a high-acuity MedSurg/Telemetry unit within a large, Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital. This contract opportunity offers exposure to a diverse patient population, including those with acute and chronic conditions such as heart failure, A-Fib, kidney disease, respiratory issues, sepsis, and patients recovering from surgeries or cardiac procedures. Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every 6-week schedule cycle
  • Expect 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • Holiday coverage required (one shift of each major holiday)
  • No on-call
  • Qualifications:

  • Active RN license and BLS certification required
  • Ability to pass EKG competency (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) during compliance process
  • ACLS and Medical-Surgical nursing certification preferred but not mandatory
  • At least 2 years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience (first-time travelers welcome)
  • Proficiency in clinical assessment, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound and post-op monitoring, and cardiac telemetry
  • Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, foley insertion and maintenance, glucommander, insulin and heparin drips
  • Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary nursing care to a 1:4-6 patient ratio
  • Monitor and manage various patient diagnoses with acute and chronic complications
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, resource nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists available 24/7
  • Coordinate patient education and discharge planning, focusing on renal, fluid, and complex medical management
  • Engage in care plan development and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team
  • Float as needed across all adult MedSurg/Telemetry units
  • Additional Information:

  • Use of EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and advanced monitoring equipment
