Take on a critical role supporting surgical teams by delivering skilled support in the Operating Room. In this contract position, you will put your expertise as a Certified Surgical Technologist and/or Nursing - ORT professional to work, ensuring excellence in perioperative care, sterile technique, and patient safety.

Schedule:

  • General OR work hours are available as either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week.
  • Shifts end at 11:30pm (typically 3:00pm–11:30pm or 1:00pm–11:30pm).
  • Rotating call hours include one weekend every 3-4 weeks (Saturday and Sunday, evening hours ending at 11:30pm) and 1-2 night call shifts weekly (11:30pm–7:00am). Shifts may immediately follow your scheduled weekend.
  • Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Surgical Technologist certification or ORT nursing background required.
  • Solid knowledge and practice of sterile technique and infection control procedures.
  • Experience with surgical scrub technique and maintaining asepsis in the operating room.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy in instrument/supply counts, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to anticipate surgeon needs in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Experience in assembling, preparing, and caring for OR equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to handle, label, and process specimens according to protocol.
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict sterile technique pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
  • Assist surgeons and OR staff with gowning, gloving, draping, and instrument handling.
  • Organize and maintain an efficient operative field; keep accurate counts of sponges, instruments, and supplies.
  • Prepare OR environments per preference cards and handle clean-up/turnover between cases.
  • Support safe surgical procedure environments by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Participate in rotating call duties; assist in suturing, retracting, and suctioning as directed.
