Deliver crucial intraoperative care by supporting the surgical team and ensuring that every procedure proceeds smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this vital contract role as an Operating Room Technician (ORT), your primary focus will be preparing surgical cases, maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments, and assisting surgeons during operations. Your expertise will help sustain a seamless workflow critical to optimal patient outcomes.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist or relevant ORT licensing as required
  • Demonstrated experience working in an operating room environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of sterile technique and infection control protocols
  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining surgical instrumentation and supplies
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of surgeons and field requests promptly
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain sterile fields to prepare for surgery
  • Handle and pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons efficiently during procedures
  • Retract tissues and assist in visibility as directed by physician and surgical staff
  • Stock, organize, and maintain operating room supplies and instruments before, during, and after cases
  • Document surgical counts and procedures according to facility protocols
  • Collaborate closely with the surgical care team to maximize patient safety
  • Support additional intraoperative functions as assigned, excluding PACU, anesthesia, pre-op holding, central sterile, and anesthesia-related duties
