Advance your nursing career in a dynamic Med-Surg/Tele environment within an esteemed teaching hospital known for its robust trauma, cardiac, and stroke services. This contract role offers the opportunity to support multiple units focused on adult and geriatric patients, many transferred from the emergency department for specialized care. Work closely with a dedicated interdisciplinary team in a facility recognized for high standards and a collaborative culture.

Schedule & Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • No on-call requirements
  • 75% holiday coverage expected
  • Up to 6 days approved time off (excluding holidays; add to end if missed contract hours)
  • Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
  • Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, medication gtt management (including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products), trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and drain/tube management
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pump, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Willingness to float within and between facilities as needed (within scope of practice)
  • Open to first-time travelers (not preferred but considered)
  • Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality patient care to adults and geriatrics with conditions such as COPD, CHF, trauma, stroke, and GI bleeds
  • Manage patient ratios dependent on unit acuity (see details above)
  • Monitor patient telemetry and complete shift interpretations
  • Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, support departments, and providers for comprehensive care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounding, patient education, and documentation
