The student is ambulatory, independent, and requires primarily verbal prompts—but does not need hands-on care or a nurse present at school, as the building nurse administers any necessary medication.

Ideal Experience & Skills:

  • Valid, active PA LPN/LVN nursing license required
  • Experience supporting students with Autism preferred
  • Knowledge of seizure disorders: comfortable with observation and administering emergency medication if needed
  • Ability to work as part of an educational team and communicate clearly with supervisors
  • Commitment to encouraging student independence and using verbal prompts
  • Previous experience in school or pediatric settings a plus
  • Adaptability and reliability for a fluctuating, supervisor-directed schedule
  • Comfortable traveling in the community for transitions and job experiences with students
  • Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the student for seizure activity during community outings
  • Provide emergency medication if necessary
  • Support student’s independence by offering verbal cues and prompts in social, work, and learning environments
  • Maintain clear records and communicate any concerns to the supervisor and school staff
  • Uphold safety and wellbeing during community engagement
  • Follow weekly schedules and adjust for changes communicated by the supervisor
