As a key member of the school community, your expertise will center around providing counseling and social-emotional support to young people navigating behavioral, emotional, family, or mental health challenges. Your approach empowers students to develop healthy coping skills, strengthen resilience, and thrive within the school setting.

Engagement with families, educators, and community partners is at the heart of this position. By collaborating closely with these groups, you'll help connect students to needed resources, bridge gaps to learning, and address barriers related to attendance, behavior, and academic achievement. You’ll be assigned to work with K-12 age groups, ensuring your impact reaches across all grade levels.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois School Social Worker (SSW) license
  • PEL (Professional Educator License) required
  • Previous school-based experience preferred
  • Ability to support diverse student populations across K-12
  • Strong skills in counseling, assessment, and family/community collaboration
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group counseling services to students
  • Respond to behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs
  • Coordinate with teachers, families, and outside agencies
  • Develop interventions and strategies promoting student growth
  • Monitor progress and document services provided
  • Advocate for students’ academic and social-emotional wellbeing
