Step into an impactful RN role in a progressive, team-oriented stepdown unit within a major teaching and trauma center. This high-acuity department features a dynamic patient population, offering experience with cardiothoracic/vascular surgical cases, pre- and post-op stepdown care, and complex medical/surgical scenarios. You'll gain exposure to advanced technologies and a strong interdisciplinary team environment, all while working in a facility known for innovation.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • No on-call required
  • Holiday rotation as part of scheduling cycle
  • Qualifications:

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown/progressive care experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Basic Cardiac Rhythm (all required)
  • National Medical-Surgical certification preferred
  • Proficiency with advanced clinical skills: trach care, chest tubes, IV/PIV and central line management, telemetry, wound care, insulin and heparin drips, and post-op monitoring
  • Strong med-surg assessment abilities and effective interdisciplinary communication
  • Experience with Epic EMR and hospital technology (Alaris, Pyxis, Philips monitors)
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care for high-acuity post-operative, cardiology, pulmonology, and general med-surg patients
  • Manage complex case loads with a patient ratio of 1:4-6
  • Interpret telemetry, titrate drips as needed, and coordinate care with supporting roles (CNA, charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists)
  • Take part in discharge planning and patient education, especially around renal/fluid management and recovery protocols
  • Maintain accurate charting and ensure adherence to patient safety protocols
  • Float as required to adult med-surg/telemetry units
