Excellent opportunity available for a skilled RN with stepdown experience to provide high-level care in a dynamic, progressive care unit within a respected teaching hospital offering Level 1 Trauma services and comprehensive specialty care. This contract position is designed for clinicians who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about cardiovascular and med-surg populations.

Schedule/Hours

  • Shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
  • 6-week scheduling cycle
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12
  • No on-call required
  • Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

    • Qualifications

  • Current RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent, relevant experience (will consider first-time travelers)
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm certifications required
  • Medical-Surgical certification preferred
  • Strong Level 1 Trauma, med-surg assessment, and telemetry interpretation skills
  • Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion/care, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring
  • Experience with insulin/heparin drips, Glucommander, and discharge planning/patient education

    • Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver care to patients including cardiothoracic/vascular surgical, cardiology, and general med-surg populations
  • Manage cardiac, telemetry, and progressive care interventions
  • Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team
  • Contribute to patient and family education, with focus on fluid and renal management
  • Document thoroughly using EPIC EMR system
  • Collaborate with unit CNAs, house resource nurses, and central telemetry for optimal care delivery
  • Flexibility to float to other adult med-surg/telemetry units as needed
