Travel Trauma/Burn RN – Stepdown & Med Surg | Birmingham, AL

A leading academic medical center in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking an experienced Trauma/Burn RN for a travel assignment supporting a mixed-acuity unit. This opportunity is ideal for nurses with trauma, burn, stepdown, or high-acuity Med Surg experience who enjoy caring for complex patients in a fast-paced environment.

Travelers joining this team will provide care across both stepdown and Med Surg levels of acuity, working alongside a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering specialized care for patients recovering from traumatic injuries and complex medical conditions.

13-week travel contract
Trauma/Burn mixed-acuity unit
PM/Night Shift
36 or 48 hours per week options available
Weekly Pay: 36 Hours: $2,056/week
48 Hours: $2,742/week
BLS and ASLS required
Stepdown and Med Surg patient population

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Trauma/Burn unit provides care for patients with a wide range of injuries and complex medical needs. Nurses in this environment must be comfortable caring for patients across varying acuity levels, from traditional Med Surg care to higher-acuity stepdown monitoring.

This assignment is a great fit for nurses who thrive in dynamic settings and enjoy developing their skills while caring for a diverse trauma population.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide nursing care for trauma, burn, and complex medical patients
Monitor patients across Med Surg and stepdown levels of care
Perform ongoing assessments and identify changes in patient condition
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care

REQUIREMENTS
Active RN license
Minimum 1 year of relevant acute care experience required
BLS certification required
ASLS certification required
Trauma, burn, stepdown, or high-acuity Med Surg experience preferred
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
Travel experience preferred, but first-time travelers accepted
