Step into a fast-paced, collaborative medical-surgical/telemetry setting at a large teaching hospital known for its Level 1 Trauma designation, advanced cardiac and stroke centers, and commitment to high-quality patient care.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
  • Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Holiday rotations: One major holiday per season

    • Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Active RN license and BLS certification required
  • Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR); EKG rhythm exam during onboarding
  • ACLS preferred; Med-surg national certification a plus
  • At least 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
  • Comfortable accepting first-time travelers

    • Clinical Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Care for post/pre cardiac, step-down ICU, and complex med/tele patients (CHF, COPD, STEMI/NSTEMI, sepsis, etc.)
  • Manage patient ratios of 1:4-6, with CNA support for daily care and transport team for patient transfers
  • Expert in trach care, chest tubes, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, wound care, IV and central line management
  • Telemetry monitoring, rhythm interpretation, EMR documentation (EPIC)
  • Education, discharge planning, and care coordination, especially regarding renal and fluid needs
  • Floating to all med-surg telemetry units as needed

    • Support and Resources:

  • Charge nurse, resource/discharge nurse, and 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, and RT coverage
  • Central Telemetry Unit, PICC team, unit secretary, and laboratory/phlebotomy support
  • Modern technology including Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
