Advance your nursing career in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry environment at a Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital known for comprehensive care. This contract opportunity supports a 23-bed unit specializing in diverse post-surgical and complex medical needs, providing an ideal setting to strengthen your clinical assessment and Telemetry skills.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
  • Weekend rotation required: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Holiday shifts: One major holiday per cycle
  • Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years’ recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Ability to pass a Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG) exam; must complete during compliance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Strong skills in IV insertion, central line care, wound care, and telemetry monitoring
  • Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and administration of specific drips (heparin, insulin)
  • Comfortable educating patients on renal/fluid management and coordinating interdisciplinary care
  • Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive care to acute and chronically ill patients, including those recovering from orthopedic, bariatric, spine, and post-surgical procedures
  • Manage non-titratable cardiac drips, insulin protocols, and complex wound care
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, resource teams, and other support personnel
  • Utilize advanced monitoring and documentation platforms, including EPIC and Pyxis
  • Ensure thorough discharge planning and ongoing patient/family education
  • Float to other adult med surg/telemetry units as needed
