Advance your nursing career in a dynamic, high-acuity medical-surgical/telemetry environment. This contract position calls for a skilled RN with experience in Med/Surg and telemetry to provide vital care in a large, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. The role offers opportunities to work with complex cardiac and step-down ICU patients while being part of a well-supported, team-oriented setting.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
  • Every 6 weeks: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12
  • Holiday rotation includes one shift each on major holidays (Thanksgiving, winter holidays, New Year’s)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current, active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years’ Med/Surg and telemetry RN experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) required—EKG rhythm exam during onboarding
  • ACLS preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, med-surg, and cardiac telemetry skills
  • Proficient in IV insertion/care, central line management, wound and post-op monitoring
  • Experience with trach care, chest tube management, insulin and heparin drips, glucommander, PCA pain management
  • Comfort with discharge planning, interdisciplinary care coordination, and patient education

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a typical RN patient ratio of 1:4-6 on a 30-bed unit
  • Care for post/pre cardiac, step-down ICU, and chronic diagnosis patients (CHF, COPD, STEMI/NSTEMI, sepsis, etc.)
  • Interpret telemetry, titrate certain heart rate medications (not BP)
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, unit secretary, resource nurses, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist teams
  • Utilize advanced technology (EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, Philips, VS3 monitors)
  • Float among all med-surg telemetry units as needed
