This role in the Medical Respiratory Unit provides a remarkable chance to enhance your nursing career through hands-on involvement in a 42-bed unit focused on acute and chronic respiratory care. With a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 in the primary unit and 1:4 in an 8-bed step-down unit, you’ll collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team, participating in patient care rounds and treating a diverse patient population. Broaden your experience by caring for cases ranging from pneumonia and COPD to GI issues and post-op recovery. You’ll also gain valuable flexibility by supporting additional units and facilities as needed—an exceptional way to add depth to your resume and cultivate expertise with a variety of workplace and leadership models.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Accepting 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend shifts required
  • Holidays as required
  • Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Nursing required
  • Active Alabama RN or Compact license via NURSYS (no temporary licenses accepted)
  • American Heart Association BLS certification or Red Cross equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred, or 18 months under highest licensure plus 1 year of recent specialty experience
  • Flexibility to float to other units and facilities
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Monitor patient progress and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during daily rounds
  • Provide care for medical overflow cases, such as GI, diabetes, stroke, or surgical patients
  • Support patient transitions in both primary and step-down settings
