Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students as a School Nurse during a maternity leave assignment. For 12 weeks, beginning October 26, 2026 and extending through January 22, 2027, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining student health and well-being during regular school hours (7:00 AM to 2:30 PM). This full-time position provides a chance to apply your clinical expertise and school experience in a supportive educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
  • At least 1 year of prior experience in a school setting
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to work full-time, set school hours
  • No LPNs considered for this assignment

    • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing services—including first aid, emergency care, and illness management—to high school students and school staff
  • Administer medication, maintain appropriate documentation, and securely store all medications
  • Support the Certified School Nurse with wellness programs, and contribute to special district projects such as care plan collection for allergies, asthma, and seizures
  • Assist in maintaining an efficient, organized health office alongside health aides
  • Monitor building AEDs and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate records for state-mandated requirements (immunizations, physical exams, medical conditions, and archiving)
  • Serve as a mandated reporter, conducting assessments and making referrals for suspected abuse or neglect
