Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students as a dedicated Registered Nurse for a 12-week maternity leave coverage this school year. The assignment spans from October 26, 2026, to January 22, 2027, with full-time hours from 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Prior experience working in a school setting required
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Submission of relevant certification/license and a current resume with your application
  • Only RNs will be considered (no LPNs)
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional nursing care, including first aid, illness management, and emergency response for students and staff, following established guidelines and best practices
  • Safeguard medication administration with meticulous documentation and secure storage
  • Support the Certified School Nurse with ongoing student/staff wellness initiatives and special health projects (e.g., collecting allergy, asthma, and seizure action plans)
  • Regularly check and report maintenance needs for building AEDs
  • Maintain and update accurate medical records to assure full compliance with state-mandated requirements regarding immunizations, physical exams, and student health conditions
  • Serve as a mandated reporter, making prompt assessments and referrals in cases of suspected abuse or neglect
  • Collaborate closely with the Certified School Nurse and health aide to maintain a well-organized health office environment
