This contracted role, beginning May 18 and running through June 30 as part of the Extended School Year (ESY) program, offers the possibility of extension into the next school year based on fit and performance. With one opening available, the school nurse will foster a safe and supportive environment for children and adolescents ages 3 to 18.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State (NYS) is mandatory
  • Previous experience as an RN, LPN, or LVN in a school setting is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of state health requirements for youth in schools
  • Ability to perform nursing care for a diverse student population
  • Proficient in conducting routine screenings, tests, and maintaining accurate health records
  • Flexible to work in any public or private school in the district as assigned
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to strictly onsite work (no virtual or remote assignments)
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff
  • Manage and administer medications in accordance with physician’s orders and school policy
  • Conduct state-mandated health screenings and maintain precise documentation
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student health concerns
  • Respond promptly to health emergencies and coordinate care as necessary
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention within the school community
