Job Title: Per Diem Registered School Nurse (RN)

Pay Rate: $56.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Per Diem Registered School Nurse provides professional nursing services on an as-needed basis to support the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff. Responsibilities include providing direct nursing care, responding to medical emergencies, administering medications, managing chronic health conditions, maintaining health records, and ensuring compliance with Alabama Board of Nursing standards, state laws, and Board policies.
Essential Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care to students and staff.
• Assess and treat illnesses and injuries; respond to medical emergencies.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions.
• Maintain confidential health records and required documentation.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers.
• Promote health education and disease prevention.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Current unrestricted Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification (required).
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• School, pediatric, emergency, or community health nursing experience preferred.
• Valid Alabama driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
Schedule
As-needed assignments to provide coverage for staff absences, field trips, special events, and other school health needs. Hours generally follow the Montgomery County Board of Education school calendar.
