Seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse with a background in school healthcare for a contract opportunity near Wheaton, IL (zip: 60187). This 12-week maternity leave assignment, serving high school students, starts October 26, 2026 and runs through January 22, 2027, with the potential for extension. Work closely with students, staff, and the broader school health team during regular school hours: 7:00am – 2:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Illinois license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Prior experience working in a school setting
  • Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills
  • Proven ability to administer medication, maintain detailed records, and follow state and local health mandates
  • Experience collaborating in student wellness initiatives
  • Comfortable working exclusively school-set hours; no LPNs for this position
  • Must provide certification/license and a current resume as part of application
  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing services, including first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff
  • Administer medications with proper documentation and ensure secure medication storage
  • Support the Certified School Nurse with wellness programs and district projects (ex: allergy, asthma, and seizure action plans)
  • Assist with maintaining the health office environment
  • Regularly monitor building AEDs and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate medical records for compliance with state immunization and health regulations
  • Make mandated referrals and assessments for suspected abuse/neglect as required by law
