Registered Nurse (RN) – School Nurse 

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) to provide school nursing services for a middle school during a temporary medical leave assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare professional who enjoys working with adolescents in an educational setting.

Location: Charlottesville, VA 

Position Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 7.25 hours per day (36.25 hours per week)
  • Assignment Dates: August 11, 2026 – September 21, 2026
  • Reason for Assignment: Coverage for a medical leave
  • Setting: Middle School
  • Student Population: Approximately 545 students, ages 11–14

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to students during the school day.
  • Assess and manage student illnesses and injuries.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
  • Maintain accurate student health records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health and wellness.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and promote a safe, healthy learning environment.

    • Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Previous pediatric, school nursing, or community health experience is preferred but not required.

    • Additional Information

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are welcome to apply; however, Registered Nurses (RNs) are preferred for this assignment.
